Percentage of teachers in post who work full time is calculated using 'Total headcount of full time teachers in post' as a percentage of 'Total headcount of full time and part time teachers in post'. This includes all staff employed and paid by the local authority (either fully or partially) who are either on a permanent contract of employment or on any period of fixed term contract. This also includes temporary/open ended contracts to cover, for example, sickness absence or maternity leave. A full time member of staff is someone contracted to work standard full time working hours. A teacher is a person employed by the local authority as a teacher. This includes: • Leadership posts e.g. Head teachers, Deputy Head teachers and Assistant Head teachers etc.; • Home Tutors, Specialist/Outreach Teachers and Peripatetic music teachers that are employed by the local authority. It excludes non-teaching school based staff.
